So technically we could all meet at the Beehive so we all cross the border together  ;D

Yep - just need to check that my visa and injections are up to date.

What time you meet in at roundabout

I was going to go for the usual 7:30 meetup.

Exactly. I think the biggest 'hill' is the one up to West Bergholt and I went up that with the bike fully loaded for the tour on 47x18 so should be fine in summer mode!

That is a bit of a drag.

You will note that my route avoids Ager Fen - not only is the hill in and out not very fixed friendly but I don't feel like a swim this evening.

If I do join the Witham peloton I reckon my legs might get me to the Beehive for about 9pm, just in time to rejoin you lot as you push on to forrin lands across the water  ::-)

I'll aim to intercept at the Beehive too - coming in from Wormingford, though I'll probably take the slightly longer but less lanier way home through Bures and Pebmarsh

How about this route from Witham

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/15231527

(It originally went past the end of chief's drive, but I tweaked it to overlap more with ted's approach.)

I haven't checked it for any blatant rideWithGPS-isms though, so it might be routing down some gravel track at some point.

You're quite right mate in that you are being routed down a farm track along Sheepcotes Lane. Best to carry on along it and into Coggleshall

I should be okay for Wednesday evening and Fred is back in lightweight mode having been in touring mode for much of the last 2 months.

Does the Witham Peloton have a route to the A&C?  I have one from previous visits if there isn't a plan afoot already.

In the absence of other suggestions I offer the Witham Peloton THIS ROUTE for tomorrow evening.

I'm aiming to be there.  OD's route looks remarkably un-loopy and positively sensible.  (I haven't yet looked in detail to see if he's inserted any bridleways, dried up stream beds or ploughed fields into the parcours).

Its mainly the same route we followed to The Cock [splort] at HBO so should be OK.  Fred is now in lightweight mode and I still don't fully trust Conti tyres so COR is being avoided.

It doesn't even go past the beetles, in daylight when they could actually be seen, but it does go past the Compasses  :o

I think tradition has it that those who live in the western badlands should travel over to the spiritual home for a mid-ride refreshment before we form our protective train and head west.

I take it you're talking about Bernster and psyclist?  I guessing the A&C proposal was made following discussions with them?  No doubt in a bus shelter somewhere?

In a manner of speaking... More of a virtual bus shelter (i.e. this thread  ;D):

Special request, how about the Axe and Compasses in Aythorpe Roding on one of 13th, 20th or 27th July? For me, it would be good to have something in the diary so that I can arrange to not be working in London on that day.

Now the beer festivals have concluded, would a venture to the western reaches of the area be on the cards for Wed 27th?
