Might be up for this but where in Salisbury is the meet-up?
Might try and book a bed at Wetherspoons

that would be very handy because that's where we meet for beer and dinner at around 6-ish, before moving on somewhere quieter as local yoof comes in for a disco

Is this drinkin'

just drinkin' & cyclin'?

a bit of both really...KWAC is planning a 200 DIY route via Lasham and Amesbury - the first half of our spanking new 300. We envisage working up a powerful thirst.
ACH (and other London AUKs) welcome to join us.
-
It might be worth advertising this event on the AUK Forum as well.

Yes.

Interesting to note there is no 200km calendar ride in the Thames Valley -ish area during February 2017 (KVR is now early March, and Blacksheep is on sabbatical).
So maybe this event will appeal to some southern RRTYers?

Room booked at the Wetherspoons and a spare bed available for those that are fearless.

Midhurst will be represented.

George and I will be there, bimbling over via a couple of ancient monuments. And possibly a pub or two
-
If I get over my cold I may cycle the whole 36k there and home again although I would feel a bit of a fraud!

I'm with the Kingston Wheelers group, aiming to ride a 200k to the pub.

Is the Kings Head au fait with letting bikes into rooms?
-
I believe so, not stayed there myself . others should be able to confirm.

they have been in past years yes
-
I am sure I was able to bring my bike into the hotel bit but can't remember if it was allowed in the bedroom last time - think it was and they are good rooms,
Have a ~180k route planned: A nice run up to brekki at Hurstborne Priors, a couple of pints at Bradford-on-Avon and another quick couple somewhere in the Wylye Valley.

Whats the dress code for this sort of get together: cycle clothing, civvies or a mix of both? Also wondering whether to carry a pair of trainers or stick to cycle shoes (mtb spd type)

Take your lead from H and your be fine

Ah, there speaks a man who has not experienced Salisbury on a Saturday night...
I would bring nothing that you will miss and anything you can brush off when dry.

I've just booked a room further out of town. Is there somewhere safe to leave a bike outside JDs? Ive got a cafe style lock but don't fancy carrying anything heavier.

We have previously left out bikes chained together outside by the river and not lost any as yet.

I lunched with Mr & Mrs Pountney last week. That ride did crop up in conversation.

I hope we will adjourn to the nice quiet small pub (with the spooky hand in a case) down the road when the music gets too loud?...Like 2 years ago.
Starting from Kingston Bridge for a 200k to Salisbury:- Sarah, Richard, Gavin, Chris, Pete.
-
Indeed pete mas, i plan to head to that pub for more stories from the saddlebag, once weatherspoons becomes to loud.
5 from audax club Portsmouth Salisbury bound tomorrow morning.
-
Have a lovely time and please leave Salisbury intact! I can't make it as I'm off to Sussex first thing tomorrow morning.

14 there, great weekend 215miles in total, out to Somerset on saturday in lovely sunshine .
Home via north hampshire yesterday.
See you all next year.

Thanks for organising it Postie. Weather was kind to us. I rode about 212 miles in total. Great kick-start to the year's Audax riding, (for those like me who need it), otherwise just nice to chat cycling and ride calendar planning with like-minded folk, over a beer and nice curry later. :)
