I keep a spare pair of sock (along with other items) in the office at all times.

Why did I never think of that?

Slob colleague.

The house you are engaged in rebuilding has taken over a year. During that time, your long suffering wife has been working part time and also looking after your less than 2 year old twins. We have had to suffer the stories and rants about the work in (or not in) progress.

Announcing that you have a move in date is very nice for you and your family and will be a relief for us.

To then announce that you are only taking the move in day off and counter suggestions that a day either side would be good with the argument that 'She will be home and can deal' is a cockish attitude.

You really do not deserve her and she certainly doesn't deserve you >:(

If it weren't bad enough that you have parked that hideous 'bicycle' next to mine, you now are playing angry birds WITH THE SOUND ON opposite me on the train.

Have you caught a train with Interzen?

Well, I've never actually met interzen, and the 'bicycle' does only have one gear, and colour coordinated frame/saddle/rims/tape....

But none of Interzen's bikes are hideous, so it can't be :)

I suspect this chap doesn't think his abomination is hideous, either.

This should be a rant but I don't think I can be arsed now.

I have fucked up.

We are selling our house and buying another. Sometime in March we had a house to buy and a buyer for ours. There was a short chain. We had it suggested to us that a moving date of 28th June would be fine. I thought great - plenty of time.

At this moment the chain stretches to infinity in either direction.

When we started I fondly assumed that I'd wait until we had exchanged contracts before firmly booking a removal firm. A few weeks ago I realised that the exchange wasn't going to happen any time soon and started getting quotes for removal. At this point I discover that the last Friday in June is the most popular date in the whole year for moving. By the time I get the quotes the companies are fully booked.

So here we are, sitting in a sea of cardboard boxes. Supposed to move next Friday. Contracts have not been exchanged (but might be this coming week). It ain't going to happen on Friday. No way.

Tomorrow morning I shall toddle across the road to the solicitor and tell them I can't do it then - I need at least another week. And piss off, no doubt, the rest of the chain.

With the wonderful system we have any fucker in the chain can still pull out and send the whole thing crashing down.

There really ought to be a better way of doing this.

I was wrong. I did manage to get a removal firm for Friday, so all was hunky dory. Until a couple of hours ago. Someone else further down the line can't. Apparently they didn't even know the 28th had been suggested. Either that's utter bullshit or their solicitor and/or estate agent are/is totally crap.

So we'll be living in a sea of cardboard boxes for a while yet.

Great.

We're supposed to be exchanging tomorrow. I'll believe it when it happens.
There's no vibrations, but wait.

My class-sizes have been doubled of late, which has buggered up my cycle-commuting.

The time required for small group sessions has doubled, and my ability to sneak off at 3:30 has vanished :-(

I'm going to have to re-design the course with more self-study and less input from me...

Last night I trashed a contact lens.  'No problem' I thought, will just open another pack in the morning.

This morning I grab the boxes of contact lenses... and they're empty.  ::-)

Thankfully I didn't *need* my contacts today.  Will spend some time this weekend exploring the world on online contact lens sellers.

I think Mr.B was alluding to the fact that I'm a bit of an Angry Birds fan ;)

'Tisn't me, though - not only would it be a cold day in Hell before any of my bikes have colour coordinated rims (for colours != black) but I'm not on a train to anywhere at the moment. I wish I was, but I'm not. I also know what headphones and mute controls are for.

It sounds like you have a bad attack of Hipsterus Irritans - I prescribe a blunt instrument applied liberally and with extreme force around the source of irritation.

Did I miss the memo???? I must have as I didn't realise today was "National Lemming Day" (and no, not National Lemmy Day... which to be honest is long overdue!).

This morning, a total of five people stepped into the road in front of me without looking. Thankfully, I was awake and my brakes work, or my afternoon would be taken up with bike cleaning and doing the paperwork.

The only reason it hasn't happened is because Lemmy is such concentrated awesome that a single day wouldn't be enough ;)

Pah. Opened the shed this morning to find a flat rear tyre on the hybrid, with no time to fix it. That scuppered my plan to take the broken-spoked rear wheel off the other bike to the LBS on my way to work (as the hybrid's the only one with a pannier rack). Will have to make sure I leave work early enough to get home and then go to LBS on foot. >:(

I really ought to be surprised that I got sent a scan of a print of an email I sent last year as an attachment to an email today.
