Steve McCurry Retrospective - Birmingham
« on: 11 October, 2010, 09:13:04 pm »
UK exclusive photography exhibition, in the Waterhall, Birmingham Museum, free admission.
This has been on since June and ends the 17th of this month.  I saw it by chance last week and I'm glad I didn't miss it.  Absolutely stunning,  I had to go out, sit down for a while and go back in again.  Some of the photos are like paintings, all the subjects are incredible,  the venue was pretty empty, so plenty of time and space to wander around.  I recognised a couple of the images, though I wasn't familiar with the name. Simply the best exhibition I've seen in years, if you get a chance go.  A taster, though your monitor won't do them justice;

Also, across the road in the main museum they're displaying parts of the Staffordshire Hoard, which is what we'd gone to see, have to go back as we spent so long looking at the photos we ran out of time.
