Has anyone else experienced this?
I use Word on my (year old) laptop. I often find that when I am typing, the cursor unexpectedly jumps to another part of the page, so that what I am typing suddenly appears in the middle of something I have already written. It's a mild irritation if I notice it happening straight away but extremely annoying if I don't and I have to start cutting and pasting when I do spot that things have gone astray.
Any suggestions for causes and cures?

Wrists resting on the touchpad? Should be an option to disable the touchpad while typing.

Yeah, crappy touchpads, certainly a speciality of the last Dell I had. Had to turn it off.
Alternatively, the cheap charger I bought for my ancient Macbook Air makes for jumpiness through Chinese earthing.

Yeah, touchpad. Either brushing it with wrists etc, or (generally truer of crappier, older machines) phantom 'touches' from case flex.

Caused by using MS Word
Cured by not using MS Word

I am trialling WPS. No skipping on any device. I got weary of Word.

I have had exactly the same problem in the past. Once I deactivated the touchpad and used a separate mouse all was well.
