It was in brizzle, so anything could have happened!
Ah, yes... You could have ended up cleaning  a couple of loonies' bikes at a Sheffield stand outside a Keralite restaurant!
Riding a concrete path through the nebulous and chaotic future.

Oh, I used to clean that one in the shower regularly.

I went through a phase of cleaning/fettling during the lunch-break at work ...

Some form of rig over the bath to hang the bike from the ceiling. Off cut of vinyl in the bottom of the bath. Rose Royce on the radio in the background singing "Bikewash yeah!"

If you need to use water, then I think on the road next to the kerb should be OK, after all that's where people wash their cars.

I have to admit to blocking the waste from my bath, with muddy gritty crap. Living in a flat, on my own, I became a little complacent.

My advice is a quick one bucket rinse on the pavement, to get rid of the heavy stuff, then loving care in the shower or bath. When I say a one bucket rinse, I mean exactly that. Just a very quick going over with hot water and a soft brush.

I don't mean standing over your bike, in the street, and then leaving a vulnerable bike alone as you go and get a fresh bucket of water.

This seems to work. I have not blocked the bath again...
