The Exorcist.  Linda Blair is terrific.  The film is not.  Whatever was all the fuss about?

Just seen the latter parts of "Lost" 2004.

The best part of watching this (whilst tapping away on the laptop) was reading this review on IMDB:

Quote
Before Lemke's "Lost" my life was nothing. I was nothing. But after viewing this masterpiece, I have learned things about myself I never before suspected. I haven't been this excited about art since Micheal Curtiz's "The Seahawk". I hope this brilliant young director will continue to shower us with the fruits of his massive wisdom and intellect. Films never transcend life itself, but "Lost" took me to another plane, another level. A place I had never been before, and it has left me with an insatiable hunger--for more Darren Lemke. I pray that I might meet Mr. Lemke one day, and that he might find me to be a suitable mate, and that science might discover a way for two men to procreate, and that we could have glorious and beautiful offspring.
It is simpler than it looks.

Ligeia. It's a bit crap but she's pretty so it's all good.

"Streetdance" in 3D.

To my surprise, I quite enjoyed it. I thought the dance scenes in 3D worked well, as did the views of London. The 3D isn't in yer face & over the top, in the way that I've found irritating before.

Low budget, the plot isn't exactly sophisticated, & some of the lead performers are obviously better at dancing than acting. But then . . .  they're not called upon to act outside themselves, so that works, in general. And there's Charlotte Rampling, for nostalgia.

'nostalgia'.  That's a new name for it.

'New Moon'. I'd read the book, so I knew what was coming. Bit tedious compared to first film. Werewolves were a bit too bear like. Real wolves are lean and mean looking - these ended up looking cuddly.

The actor who played Jacob should have got an award for dedication to the part; he put on 30lb of muscle in less than a year (they were going to replace him because he didn't look muscular enough for the 2nd film).

Just finished Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll

What a fantastic film with Ian Dury so well played by Gollum Andy Serkis.

Ian Dury was a genius - met him in a loo once at a private function where he played  - a true gent but with a dark side. But what a childhood.

We had some of his lyrics at our wedding.

For Your Consideration

Well, I watched most of it last night, but was shattered so fell asleep before the end. Really liked what I saw of it, though. Very funny. I'll have to give it another go when I'm less tired.

The Road.

Depressingly a lot of the locations were abandoned suburbs, whole communities that have vanished.

Too harsh.

The music was very good and it was a nice light, feel good movie.  Perfect for relaxing after a hard day at work.

It's got Bill Nighy in it.  Most things (Richard Curtis excepted) can be forgiven on that basis.

Bill is classic Bill in it.  I'm sure Curtis had Bill in mind as he was writing the part.

Is having Bill Nighy in it enough to forgive it for the comedy rape scene?

Watched 'A Serious Man' (Coen Bros). After about one hour in my husband said 'this is such a load of crap' and I tried to persist with it but I found it dire quite frankly.

Bloke lures girl into bedroom then leaves room and sends other bloke in to fuck her, the joke being that cos the lights are off, she won't notice it's the wrong man.

Hilarious. ::-)

Room at the Top.  Depressing in many ways but a good insight into the world that produced Thatcher.
