It was a bit restrained for Kinski.  Well I remember him and the lovely Natassja being on stage at some film festival and KK going into a major purple-faced swivel-eyed wobbly because some journo at the back had dared to light a fag in the same room as his daughter.  Compared with that, Aguirre looked like a Church of England vicar at the Queen's garden party ;D

Rush - Beyond the Lighted Stage

A rockumentary about Rush from the makers of other heavy metal documentaries that I can't remember. Probably for fans only.

Or Canadians... I have to be very careful what I say about Rush out here as they appear to be living deities. Best not to mention that I sometimes think that they may be the worst band ever to exist on the face of planet Earth...

Moon.

Second time for me and the missus - we saw it in the cinema last year. But this time we watched it en famille. The 12yo took a while to warm to it, but by halfway through was totally engrossed. And by the end, he was in floods of tears, utterly inconsolable. I felt a bit guilty for subjecting him to such an emotional trauma but he said he loved it.

Timecrimes.  Spanish sci-fi!  Not harmed by one of the most beautiful actresses I've seen in a long time.  Was on BBC4 a few days ago - watch it before the American version comes out in 2012.

I am always vegging out in front of something from my DVD collection but the last new film I watched was the unexpectedly good - The Objective.

I'd like to say "Fight Club", from my DVD collection, but actually it was "The Princess and the Frog"

Munich. Not bad, but not as good/thought provoking as I'd heard it was. I'd watch it again though.

I saw Moon last week - what a lovely film it is. :)

I watched that too. Brilliant. It will need to be added to my dvd collection I think.

The Crazies.

It was okay as disposable veg-out entertainment goes, but nothing more.

It sufffers the same irritations that ruin most of these type of films for me though, ie the ridiculous things the characters do to allow opportunities for drama and action. If the world has gone mad and the zombocalypse is upon you, stop splitting up and wandering off individually, FFS! And stay away from those dark, isolated corners with lots of "jumpy out at you" nooks and crannies!

'Is Anybody there?' - absolutely beautiful, and a mesmerising performance from Michael Caine.

Please Give - the latest trademark quirky indie comedy-drama by Nicole Holofcener.

Strange film. Lots of great lines, and Catherine Keener is as captivating as ever. The ending is a bit too neat to be wholly convincing though.

The Titfield Thunderbolt, last week.

I don't watch many films but should do. Got a friend now who'll help me see a few more I hope. She showed me a film about a Chinese collaborator and someone who was part of the resistance in Shanghai recently and I can't remember the title, gripping story though, two word title.  She's into Fellini* and Russ Meyer* films so I'm hoping for some interesting viewing coming up.

*whatever they might be.

Crikey. Sounds like an interesting young lady.

She'll probably like Bigas Luna too. If you want to impress her and show off your own filmic knowledge, get "La Teta Y La Luna" or "Jamon, Jamon" out on DVD. ;)

I'm not really that knowledgeable about Fellini, but I do know that Russ Meyer was mainly noted for his sexploitation films, such as Valley of the Dolls.  The two aren't really comparable, being involved in quite different types of films.  An interesting juxtaposition of directors.

I'll agree with the citizen though, The Titfield Thuderbolt is a great film.
Actually, it is rocket science.
