Rapidshare
« on: 16 June, 2008, 02:46:30 pm »
My ISP (Virgin) has kindly throttled back any downloads that look like torrents to the point where it's pointless even to try.  I shan't be renewing my contract with them.

In the meantime, despite it being a paid-for service, I'm thinking of having a crack at using Rapidshare, but I can't seem to work out how you effectively search it for files that you might want to download.

What are your experiences with this service?  Anything I should know about it or look out for?

Is it not more of a hosting site than your average searchable download kinda place? Kind of like photobucket but for huge files. Any time I've ever used it, it's been through a link I've been sent or a url from another site that takes me to the download page for the file I'm after.

Rapidshare-search-engine.com - Find files on rapidshare

If you don't pay, the bandwidth limits are too tight to be useful.

Like Megaupload and the others, Rapidshare is mostly useful as a "I uploaded X, here it is" service than it is as a torrent-style file library.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

try some of these:

http://www.rapidlibrary.com
http://www.filez.com
(probably contain NSFW content cause they display adverts and recent searches)

www.rapidfind.org (forum)

or type what you want into google followed by the word 'rapidshare'.
