Penny racing at the Evandale Village Fair - February 2011

Evandale Village Fair and National Penny Farthing Championships

I've just booked my ticket to Sydney.  Internal flights down to Tasmania to follow.  The only airline that'll let me fly with a Penny Farthing in my luggage is Virgin.

To do before February:

  • Get fit for the century ride
  • Rebuild, tie and solder my big wheel with 64 proper, nippled spokes
  • Make a flight box to take an ordinary
  • Work out where to in Tassie to go between the century ride on the 12th and the racing the following weekend.  Hiking in one of the national parks is currently favourite.
  • Decide what I want to do and see in Sydney before and after the racing

Can't wait to see the box...
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

I intend to give it a damn good try  :smug:

I can imagine the phone calls to airlines where interesting.

Yeah, the woman I spoke to was delighted.  She said was the weirdest request she'd had for ages.

Weird?  Don't try to outweird me, three eyes, I get weirder things than you in my breakfast cereal  :D

Can't wait to see the box...

Aye.  She's heading out there in a few weeks.  As an academic, she's not so tied to one location so she'll be working from Sydney for a few months and I'll meet up with her in February for a week's lollygagging round the Empire's favourite former penal colony before we fly out to Tassie.

I might not be able to bring my pom-poms to this one :(

Hope you can get a chap as good (and well turned out) as Andy for your pitlane.

Hope it goes magnificently well.

Charlotte dearest, when are you leaving the UK and would there be space for a couple of these somewhere in your luggage if I managed to get them delivered to Ealing in time?

We're not leaving Aus on 2nd Feb any more  :D
