New LEJOG record
« on: 17 June, 2018, 10:40:45 pm »
Michael Broadwith has just set a new record for Lands End to John O Groats of 43 hours 25 mins, smashing the old record by 39 mins.
A big well done to Mike.
I'm a little puzzle about how there has been no media coverage of this achievement? I thought more people would be interested?
What a lot of effort just for a cloth badge.

Blimey, congrats to him. That should stand for a while to come.

Really nice to hear that Gethin Butler was out on Shap to encourage Michael.

The only mention I saw of this was Steve Abraham sharing Michael's schedule on facebook the day before

I've read about it on various Facebook pages, road.cc, Cycling Weekly, Cycling Time Trials and Cycling Uphill off the top of my head and this is the third or fourth thread about it on here.

Cycling Weekly did this a while back too.

It was updated yesterday but then removed until the record has been officially ratified

It can be difficult to get press coverage on a Sunday because the dailies don't expect a lot to happen. A lot of the staff take a day off.
