So who's running the book on what he left behind at the hotel?

Hmm, 10:30 seems rather late. :-\  Step-change, anyone?

So who's running the book on what he left behind at the hotel?

Looks like he has decided he can do without it for now.

The Isle of Axholme and environs are comfortably flat and the River Trent flood defences create a good wind break.

Maybe Steve has a plan to go elsewhere other than MK tonight?

Currently stopped presumably for a feed/refreshment at the 'Trent Port' just outside Gainsborough.

Sounds gloomy everywhere.  Morale of this board and the weather.

Have a good day riding, allez Steve

I think I see why.  Up there the wind is a moderate Easterly so running N-S loops he's in a crosswind.  Further South the wind is a slightly stiffer southerly, a head wind if he'd gone home today.  Tomorrow it's still a crosswind up there and roughly half the headwind near Milton Keynes.

they really dont, they are my local roads, the Trent bank seems to have its own weather front, its always windy around there especially between Gainsborough and Keadby

Seems to have added more blue lines to the map in York (as if it needed any more flooded roads) including an about turn on the Tadcaster road (wasn't that the town where the old stone bridge collapsed into the river?) and now heading back in the Goole direction once again.

Google maps is guessing at the roads taken between the trackpoints, and it's getting lots of it wrong (which is why the Ivan-miles distance is often way bigger than what Steve did in reality).

At a guess it's on bicycle routing and isn't allowing someone to cycle on the last stretch of the A64 onto the A19 and so it comes up with a wacky alternative. Adding to that, one of the dark blue line trackpoints is on the Westbound carriageway of the A64 (due to the small GPS inaccuracy) and so Google Maps routing dutifully comes up with something that includes that bit of road (hence the turn around on the outskirts of Tadcaster).

From the vertices of the dark blue trackpoint line it's clear Steve didn't cycle West along the A64 towards Tadcaster at all.

It's a pity he didn't do this route yesterday; there were lots of us all around there  :(

Either way it's a sensible place to be riding; flat with few main roads.
