Potentially a very interesting development in County Cricket.

In the early 1980s I was quite shocked at the amount of prejudice I encountered when I picked a girl to play for a primary school football team. Are we more enlightened today? I don't know.

I hope she gets to play.

I had read that England's best wicketkeeper was disqualified from the team for reasons of gender.

If she's good enough to cope with the differences in the ball etc. then she plays. I hope she proves good enough to play in the first XI.

Millions of years ago I used to keep wicket for Fircroft College.  A team from another college once rocked up with two females in the squad.  It being the 70's (a different world) they asked our permission to play them.  Of course we agreed.
Bad move.  One turned out to be their opening bat and the other was the most confusing spinner I've ever faced.

They thrashed us.

With hindsight, me picking Simone for our football team may have been a trifle unfair: she was, as some 11-year-old girls can be, rather larger than her male colleagues and quite strong. She was a formidable force in the penalty area.

Well, I suppose wicket keeper is the most obvious choice for her - the fielding position where you are least likely required to throw the ball 

Good luck to her. I'm not sure how likely she is to actually play though...
