Yes, I'm fairly sure that an inch thick layer of leaf chutney with broken bottle seasoning isn't in the standard, either, but the corduroy stuff does a pretty good job of retaining it.

(I'm reasonably sure that the only time that additional maintenance requirements for a particular surface treatment are considered is when it's that special tarmac-and-gravel recipe that magically exempts Birmingham City Council from sweeping and gritting.)

I'm still amazed at the sheer number of design fails National Rail managed to fit into one footbridge, they must have been going for a record or something. (I assume they're pre-fabricated to a standard design and just put in place regardless.)
