Brake Blocks for mini-Vs?
« on: 05 November, 2016, 09:06:52 pm »
I've mini-V brakes on my winter bike. They work well enough with Ergo levers but they seem to get through brake blocks very quickly.
Can The Panel recommend any that work well and don't grind the rims down? (A free moon on a stick would be a bonus.)
Thanks.
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Koolstops. They're fairly long-lasting and kind to rims. Can be a bit squealy.

Discobrakes are cheap and work fine.

Swissstop Green in either the thin long ones for V brake shoes or the shorter and thicker ones that clear the forks.  In my hack, i.e the one that gets the most use, the thin ones are om at least their third winter.  However, almost all of my riding is rural and alone, so I do not brake very much hence they would last a long time anyway.

Gusset Incotenence Brake Pads , a soft BMX pad , kind to rims and cheap . I used them for years and Richards Perth used to stock them Eck or I see £3.50 on line at Tritoncycles.
