Bargain cooking pots
« on: 27 January, 2015, 08:46:45 am »
First and foremost I'm not a camping fiend (gave that up about 40 years ago ... anyone else have a Black's Good Companions tent?)

However, whilst mooching round Ikea getting some toys for our grandchildren to play with when they're here I bought a set of what they sell as play stuff for just 8 quid  ...... http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00130167/   - they did seem to be potentially useful for camping - light and compact?

Just a thought ... I shall continue using comfortable hotel beds when away :-)

Ah - I had a Major too ... with the extended flysheet (and a girl-friend of the moment made doors for the flysheet!)

Wow, that sounds amazing! We have the extended fly sheet without doors. If it weren't quite so big to carry on the bike, I wouldn't camp in any other tent, I love it! :D

I got a pair of Hard Anodised Ali pans off ebay for 8.99, direct from china. They are made by Fire Maple, model number FMC-207. Together they weigh about 245g. And are just perfect for cooking for one.

Fire Maple stoves are rebadged by several large manufacturers and are reckoned to be good quality.

Unless you have an objection to aluminium cookware (Alzheimer's urban legend), the basic Halfords cookset is by far the best I've used.  Actually, I should get the proper pot for my Svea 123 as mine never had one when I bought it secondhand and they're not expensive  (plans stove fettling evening).
