In 1987, after he had already won the Giro and T de F, he was due to ride the World Road Race Championship in Villach, Austria. IIRC he was staying in northern Italy and decided to unwind by riding to Villach with Sean Kelly, Paul Kimmage and Martin Earley.
So, the best cyclist on the planet chatting with a former World's No 1 and winner of countless one day classics accompanied by two other top-level professional Irish riders.
Jeeeezus, what wouldn't I have given to be the fifth man in that club run ....
I'd have even bought the lunches that day!!
