A token stage in Scotland and Wales? Ambassador, you are spoiling us!

See you on the top of Caerphilly Mountain!

5 and 6 sound like camper-van drama-chasing tifosi days to me.  I need to adopt a team!

You will!  The rest of the Welsh stage looks like a boring main road blast though.

I'll be at the Stoke stage at least (can cycle there!!) and no doubt the London finish with perhaps a trip to Mid Wales and Scotland thrown in if I can get SWMBO to agree.

Shame that they aren't finishing in Swansea this year. Last years stage there was the best of the Tour IMHO.
Glad they are back to using the City of London/Westminster again: Docklands didn't do it for me last year.

Is there a detailed route for each stage anywhere?

Guessing from the map on the official website the Welsh stage looks like it might be going up Mynydd Llangynidr, in which case I'll bag a windswept spot at Cefn Onneu.

Hmm, look like a short break in our friends flat in Budleigh is in order, with a visit to the Exmouth finish  :)

Looks like a good route. The short TT in London makes it very interesting.

We'll be going to the last two stages.

I don't think so.  The detailed routes probably won't be published until July.

Cycling Weekly mentioned a steep hill right at the end of the Welsh stage. Obviously Caerphilly Mountain, but if there's a town centre finish the descent will be worth watching!

Glad of the result in Dumfries but such a shame about Herr Voigt.

Don't get me started on Hugh Bloody Porter.  >:( Whoever keeps giving him commentary jobs should be introduced to the bat.

Me and Mrs JT are going to the TOB on Friday, Saturday and Sunday - looking forward to it!

Stage 2 cancelled due to the weather. As I commuted in this morning I think that's a little weak of them........

And should we be proud that Britain appears to be the owners of something that finally stops the Jensie completing a Tour?

I dunno. I imagine the road where he crashed is currently closed due to the extensive repair work it no doubt needs after Jens smashed into it  :P

All this wind is probably a result of the perturbation to the Earth's spin caused by the crash.

Some of the road surfaces on yesterday's stage looked shockingly bad. And in those conditions, surprised there weren't more crashes.

Hugh Porter is a twerp.

I can't work out if the finish was disappointingly easy for HTC or if they just made it look that way.

Agree about the roads. They were embarrassingly bad. Didn't think much of all the parked cars at the side of the road either!

To be fair, I had the same thought while watching the Vuelta. If they can't clear the road properly for a Grand Tour, a relatively minor domestic race has an excuse.

I understand that Stage 2 has been cancelled - wind.

Good call - rider and race personnel safety has to be paramount.

Good for him.

And the most galling thing is, Porter's commentating to an edit - it's not live commentary stitched together. OK there are time constraints but someone could tell the Brummie t**t to re-record such glaring errors.

The tour is passing 2 miles from my house on Friday. I'm gutted Jens is out so I won't get to see him in teh flesh  :'(

We're just back from not seeing the Tour today.
We'd positioned ourselves near the top of the Grayrigg climb and we were speculating about the possibility of the stage being cancelled because of the winds and the huge amount of debris on the roads. There were branches everywhere.
When we heard on Radio Cumbria that it was off, we headed into Kendal to see the two parade laps and we took loads of photos.
I'll post some later if there are any good ones.
Disappointing day out but, since we're on holiday, we're off to the pub next.

Having stood within easy earshot of Jens signing autographs yesterday I can confirm that he does seem to be every bit as friendly and good natured as his image.  Although all of the riders were happy to oblige the many small children prodding pens and paper in their direction Jens seemed easily the most chatty about it.

It's owned by USA; they've just lent it to us for a few days.

Lars Boom called them Columbia today, but here's B Wiggins' latest tweet:

It must be hard to be a cycling commentator and not really know what your talking about!

Good riddance to Rasmussen, he is one rider I didn't want to see anyway if Ned Boulting's book is to be believed.

For tomorrow I am torn between watching from Cox's mill in Cheddar where the sprint points are or the top of the gorge where the Cat 1 KOTM points finish is. The steepest bit of the gorge might be the best place to get a good view of the riders since they will be going a bit slower there.

That's a different Rasmussen (though banned, strangely, for similar reasons).

Yeah, you would need to average more than 45kph to beat them to Cheddar  ;D

I overtook them, twice, between Cheddar and the finish. They may have had a longer route, though. And Old Bristol Hill.

The start in Taunton was a fantastic atmosphere with huge numbers lining the route.  I'm about to watch the highlights on ITV4.
