They were aimed at anyone who needs or wants them, M. ;)

Annie - a small package can often bring a lot of joy, I find.

That's great news.

My good news - my neighbour's cat is still in the land of the living.  I took her to the vets, she is currently receiving fluids.  Her owners return from their hollypops tomorrow.

Well done for the promotion. But overshadowed? Am I dim, or are you cryptic and mysterious? (Probably both...)

BBC NEWS | Scotland | Tayside and Central | Cash woe for troubled development

Yes it is good news. This firm is the biggest bunch of planning philistines going. The 204 flat development is a 9 storey block that, for those who know Dundee, would stick out like an eyesore. It would block the view of the river from the University. Given the University is on a hill and the development on the riverside, is shows how ridiculously out of proportion to it's surroundings it is. No PT links, no nice pedestrian links. Completely the wrong development in the wrong place. And hopefully it now will not be built...

He's good at literacy as well but we need to work on that a bit more.
Must get it from his mum's side ;D

Nice work Mini Rich!

My good news is that I got a pay rise today, and told by my boss's boss to expense a nice bottle of bubbly.  I don't drink, so we'll just get a nice takeaway instead.

My daughter will have a piece published in Saturday's Grauniad. Sadly, being the "dogsbody / intern" as she puts it, her name won't appear in the article, but that of the guy she's working for. She's been researching "chuggers", which is an abbreviation for "Charity Muggers", a seemingly fine bunch of people who work on commission for private companies but are hired out by certain charities to prowl the streets signing unsuspecting members of the public to open direct debits in favour of said charities.

I will look out for that, Wow.

Question: how much does a 'nice bottle of bubbly' cost? I've been told to expense one, but as I don't drink want to know how much I can expense for something else.

A case of Moet & Chandon from Tesco's comes out to about £15 per bottle. I reckon you should budget for about £40. IIRC when we went out eating at a posh place in Cambridge on the occasion of Heather's graduation, the well-heeled buggers were knocking back the 'poo for about £60 per bottle. I stuck with the cheapest beer I could find, which was still over £3 a pint.

Expensive tastes, my youngest.

Peli, I reckon a Krug 'Clos du Mesnil 1990' should do it. Good VFM at around £800 a bottle.
