Couple of days car commuting would be enough to get me onto my bike ;D

South East of Scotland Transport Partnership.

It does seem a bit odd, the Wednesday thing - but yeah, maybe people get fed up with the bus. I'm not sure about specific days but there are certainly loads of cyclists out these days - it's really noticeable.

Monday.
Everyone's too hungover as a result of trying to prolong the weekend so they all wake up too late to be able to cycle.

Tuesday.
Everyone's so depressed about being back at work and the weekend is so far, far away* that they can't face a bike ride.

Wednesday.
Weekend begins on Wednesday. Well known fact. So everyone feels much more cheerful and therefore they're up for a bike ride.

Simple. Innit? :)

Or maybe - evening classes! Lots of them on Wednesdays. And if your class isn't on your normal route home, it's much easier to get to it by bike.

Or, of course, it could be that the bike counting people themselves were humgover on Mondays, gloomy on Tuesdays, and only started to pay attention by Wednesday.

There are a number of regional transport quangos in Scotland. I am in TACTRANS (Tayside and Central). Their remit is to look at regional and local travel in a *coff* joined up stylee and provide recommendations for strategy that cross local authority boundaries.

Hitrans go to special lengths to ensure that all public transport within Grampian and the Highlands does not match up with any public transport going everywhere else... see long waits at Aberdeen waiting for the train south...

And the busses leaving just before the train from the south arrives?
