Yebbut, they're not actually CONES, and as such can't really qualify for an award of CONE classiness.

On a not-entirely-unrelated note, whatever happened to the CONES hotline?

Morphed into the Highways Agency information line in 1995.  After answering 19999 prank calls asking for icecream, presumably.

GN: Slept through the storm last night.
BN: Part of the fence blew down in the night.
GN: It missed a neighbour's car by a couple of cm.
BN: Two posts have had it.
GN: I've got a spare. (No idea why.) And the panels and gate are fine.
BN: A spare.
BN: Screwfix's website is down, which is the most convenient place to buy bits from as it is 3 minutes walk.
More BN: I can't find anywhere local on the web that does ready morticed fence posts. Much less tall ready morticed at 90 degrees.

Any ideas on the last one? Is morticed the right term - holes cut into the post to take the panel rails, not a slot all the way up and down the post. I don't think I have the equipment to do a decent job myself and I'd much rather not bodge the panel to fit it to an ordinary post.

I didn't realise this was a thing. I drilled a row of intersecting holes a 24mm bit then cleaned up with a chisel.

I fear it isn't, but I did find one website that suggested that they are a thing without actually being able to sell me them! Having been out and measured, I now know that the spacings are slightly different on each panel so ready done doesn't seem so sensible. I've got a lack of daylight time this week to muck about with fence posts, so may find someone who can do it for me.

BN: For years we have used Nectar and collected fair amount of points. Went on a pootle in 2012 and was told upon return that you haven't used Nectar for over a year - so null and void. Applied for a new card.

BN: Tried to login to Nectar to figure out if we still had and/or used it. Was told again you haven't used it for a year so null and void.

GN: Contacted them via chat - oh that, we will just enable your card and put lost points back on, even though it was only a few points. So I just asked on their chat, kinda tongue in cheek, what about the lost points from 2013. Oh nee bother we pop them on your card.

So we now got about £60 to spend, which is nice :)

BN: Oh God, 266 mile journey home ahead, and I've got to fill up the car first.
GN: The lady at the Texaco/Co-op filling station on Boroughbridge Road, York, was of such a sunny disposition that I started my long journey feeling bright and happy.  Thank you lady, whoever you are!

Good news.
I remembered to check the oil tank.

Bad news.
OMG.  Panic phone call to the supplier.

Good news
1000 litres delivered early this morning.   Phew!

Bad news

GN: I have the day off today & it's sunny, if crisp.

BN: I'm on antibiotics for a chest infection, so the planned switch to winter tyres on the bike, plus a XC ride to test them out isn't going to happen. The best I can hope for is to trim the hedge later if it warms up slightly & the sun stays out :(

Gosh.  I had wondered about that.  (Just wondering if it would work - not actually doing it).
I'd be surprised if it didn't happen to a degree round here, if not heating oil, definitely red diesel.
I would imagine that the oil supplier would not be happy to make more deliveries above what could feasibly be used by central heating.

What does a moth fart smell like?

Sprouts obviously! But given how small a moth is the risk is if they fart they'll go supersonic.

GN: My new hat arrived in the post
BN: It's not very good and not as described
GN: I've got a return number for it, so it's going back.
More GN: I think I've found an alternative supplier of a higher quality hat.
