Netflix on older android versions
« on: 10 May, 2020, 05:04:12 pm »
Had to factory reset the tablet, running Android 5.1 lollipop (& no preinstalled netflix).  Google Play new Netflix is not compatible.  I've allowed third party downloads in settings, and downloaded compatible 'apk' app through netflix link, but although it's 'installed' it tries to open, but then quits.  I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that once I allowed 'non google play apps', there was a message saying 'allow google to monitor security', to which I clicked OK.  Actually Netflix doesn't seem play through tablet browsers either.

Any ideas?

Are there later versions (eg of Lineage OS) for your tablet?

(I think once you are in the game of trying to run apps too recent for your OS  version it gets to be more pain than installing non OEM OS version)

Thanks.  It's a Hudl2 but no with android updates possible AFAIA.  No biggy; it still plays iplayer/youtube etc, it's just Netflix which seems a problem.  OOI I checked my moto phone (8.1) and it will play netflix through the browser, so perhaps that's another android version thing.
