VictimVolunteer to check a flattish 200 Home-THAT LONDON route destructions some w/e in Nov; earlier (bar 2/3rd) the better. Can accomodate overnight if needed.
I'd offer you some moral support - but I have questionable morals.

Cheddar Gorge 300 this Sun.

Early (6am) start from home (Lambourn), a/c direction, so Witney / Cirencester / Malmsbury / Salford / Cheddar /  Wells /  B-o-A / Marlborough / home, if anyone wants to join in.

Top o'the Mendips should be dry - may need the SPD'd waders elsewhere  ;)

I'd offer you some moral support - but I have questionable morals.

Should be able to get a good view of the Somerset Levels Lakes from the Mendips.  Am tempted but still on for the Flapjack unless something else crops up.  Will let you know if something changes.

A DIY version of the Port Navigation is scheduled for 22 March 2014 starting/finishing in Ballachulish.

http://goo.gl/maps/SYJC6

The plan is to start 8.30am ---> 12.00 ferry Oban to Craignure then the 16.25 Fishnish --> Lochaline (plan B = 17.10).

Its a tough old 50k Lochaline to Ardgour so Im expecting that at least the final 12k after the Corran Ferry to be in the dark (Corran Ferry from Ardgour is at XX.00 and XX.30).

The nature of the route mean that its really only suited to verification by GPS

Its an audax I am very keen to to and I am training for it... But I will not be around at that time... However, if anyone would be interested in doing this in April, I would like to give it a go...

I'll be keeping my AAARTY ticking over with a South Lakes 100 DIY by GPS 2.25pts, if anyone is in The Lakes over half term next week... weather permitting.  I'll be at the NW Passage if you want a word this weekend.

Edit:  looking like Wednesday is the day.

A friend and I are planning on doing the Horseshoe Pass 200k on Saturday the 22nd of March. 7.00 a.m. start.

Start location is about 5 miles west of Wolverhampton.

We're not fast riders and expect to get round in 11 or 12 hours.

Anyone care to join us?

As part of my RRTRY, in March I am planning a DIY Perm by GPS 200.

Starting in Whitchurch (Shropshire) at about 07:00 hours, then to Audlem, then Denbigh, Llyn Brenig and back via Llangollen.

I average about 9 hours, but anticipate 9 hours and 30 mins due to the climb to Llyn Brenig.

I'll go to Lyn Brenig via the A543, not the "Road To Hell" mentioned in Simon Warren's book.

Plan to take stops in Ruthin, and a cafe on the A5 whose name escapes me.

Long range forecast for Sunday March 2nd looks promising.

Any takers?

200 km from Cambridge, Saturday 5th April

I'm riding a 200 km DIY from Cambridge on Saturday 5th April. Start 08:00 at the junction of Brookside and Lensfield Road; controls at Whitwell, Wendover, and Marston Moretaine. Route will be something like this. I'll probably take 11 hours or more as the section from Whitwell to Wendover across the Chilterns is fairly hilly.

Considering Cambrian 4B in late August

Chepstow - Hay-on-Wye – Llanwrtyd Wells - Tregaron - Lampeter - New Quay - Llandeilo - Brecon - Monmouth - Chepstow

Probably do a Friday lunchtime to Saturday lunchtime with catnap by the roadside.  Train to Bristol Parkway and ride over to Chepstow for the start.  Proper hardcore but stunning scenery.  Any takers?

Alternative would be the harder Cambrian 4F

Aberdare – Hay-on-Wye – Knighton – Llanidloes – Devils Bridge – Builth Wells – Aberaeron – Llandeilo – Aberdare.  Similar approach but starting from Aberdare train station, warm up over the valleys and Brecon Beacons, with three crossings of the Cambrian mountains along the A44, Cwmystwyth and finally Devil's Staircase.  Took a lot of working out of controls to get that to happen  ;D  :smug:

Cambrian 8A on 16-17 August starting from Llanidloes. Two 400km loops with return to Llanidloes after each loop. 13.5 AAA worth of scenery. A good post Mille Cymru ride?!

Edit: Mission accomplished. And I have the sore legs to prove it!
