American and European single malt whisky

In Clwb Wisgi Llandysul we've tried Chinese, Indian and Japanese whiskies.
I'd like to turn up with something from another unusual place.
Anyone got any recommendations for American, French or German single malts that surprised you?

I don't drink so I've never tried it, but I go past the distillery every week or so:
