Reservoir AUKs

I have a free day on Saturday, and would like to ride over to Oundle to do the 200. Problem is that I haven't entered yet, and there is no phone number for the organiser Richard Daniells listed on the entry form. Does anyone know if I can enter on the line?

Richard Daniells is deaf, hence no phone number.

He can be contacted via email at member@trivelo.freeserve.co.uk

This is not his email, but that of Max Scott, the CTC DA.  He will pass a message onto Richard on your behalf.  From memory, I think you can enter on the line, but best to check.

I'll be there (I'm riding to/from the event from Kettering), and will be on the green Robin Mather bike.

Thanks Dominic. Does it start at the Scout Hut?

Yes, at the Joan Strong Centre where it has started in previous years.

I'll see you there  ;)

Good choice it's a nice ride, where will you be coming from?

Moulton, just north of Northampton. I've got a feeling that the route comes back almost to Moulton!

The nearest the route gets to Moulton is probably Sywell, as it goes across to Brixworth.

Unfortunately Richard Daniells died unexpectedly this week. I had been talking to him recently about resurrecting this ride so now I have more reason to push ahead with the plan. One of the reasons he stopped doing it was dropping numbers. Would a start nearer a train station attract more?

Corby has a much improved rail service from the south in recent times.

I'm sorry to hear that. I think I must have done this ride back in the day - I have vague memories of it, and being sorry when it stopped running.

To answer your question, it would depend which station! If you moved it east, it would be easier, and west would make it harder.

Oakham would be the obvious one, being the only one pretty much on the route.

Ah, you're thinking of moving it round the route a bit? Works because you've got connections in multiple directions.
