Christmas fun!
« on: 23 December, 2013, 06:45:09 pm »
Take one cat. Apply a wet and rainy day, and a large mouse. Relocate mouse & cat to behind a Christmas tree in a living room. Let the fun commence!

We've lost track of it. It's either in the tree, in the sub-woofer, or in the sofa. There are baubles and pine needles everywhere, and the cats are sulking at Not Being Allowed Out Until The Mouse Is Caught.  ::-)

Very alive last time we saw it. Ethel-the-Toothless did her best to help catch it but kept dropping it. She is currently kicking seven shades of sh!t out of her jingly mouse-toy to prove it was the mouse that was defective, not her.

Oh dear.  I'm presuming that shutting the cats outside and trying to persuade the mouse out with cheez isn't going to work?

Our moggie once released a wren in the house on Christmas morning about an hour before the guests arrived. I was dragged out of the shower by Mrs Pcolbeck and had to retrieve the terrified bird naked and dripping from the Christmas tree which it was hiding in.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Birds are generally much easier, since they'll sit out of reach of the cat, but very visible.  I've just done the equivalent of catching a spider, only using a bucket and picture frame.

With small rodents, it is much more "fun", and I've generally had to rely on Zev to find whoever she's brought in, and then grab it before she does.  In the past I've come to the conclusion that the mouse has escaped, only to find Zev, some hours later, going nuts in some part of the house, having cornered it.
Actually, it is rocket science.

Still no sign of it. If it crawled into the sub-woofer, it probably died with one of Tim's Thu'ums while he was playing Skyrim.  ::-)
