That's really sad news. So much good music and always seemed a very likeable person. Condolences to everyone close to him.

I remember walking into a side room in the NYNEX in Manchester at an all-nighter in 98 (New Order, Underworld Sasha etc) a sort of angular concrete brutalist construction underneath the arena, with huge silver air ducts, and AW was in there playing minimalist techno music that consisted purely of high speed drum beats, accompanied by strobe lights.

I lasted about 20 seconds before I had to walk out. It was too intense.

Spent my teens coming down to his music. I ended up more in to the detroit / warp end of things, but definitely an early influence for me.

There's a great redbull music interview with him that gives a hint to why so many of us coming from a post-punk/indie background were into his music.
