Robin tapping at window
« on: 17 March, 2021, 08:59:16 am »
A robin keeps flying up to (upstairs) bedroom window and pecking at the glass with his beak.  It'll tap about 3 or 4 times while hovering at the glass before settling on the windowsill for a rest.   What's it doing ?

I find that blue-tits like to sit at windows and look in.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

A year ago I had something similar for a couple of weeks but it was a long tailed tit.  It kept me entertained in the early days of lockdown.

My highlighters in the office !  ;D

I'm going to try clingfilm, meantime I've hung up an old CD from the curtain rail to distract it.

Is it attacking it's reflection?
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Perhaps it's trying to tell you something.

If it starts attempting a double-backwards-somersault through a hoop whilst whistling the 'Star Spangled Banner', we're all in trouble.

I did wonder if it was the spirit animal of someone trying to get me to follow it.

Anyway, since I hung up the only cd I could lay my hands on (robert plant, the lullaby and the ceaseless bore) he's not been back. I wish I'd taken a pic now.

^^^ This.  Robins are extreemly terratorial ? and aggressive , and they attack their reflection thinking its another male bird. If it bothers you, keep curtains pulled, then there should not be the same reflection. (wahts happenin to my spellin tonite!!)

That site looks dangerously USAnian, and that side of the Atlantic, they don't know what a robin is.
