Off to see Judge Dredd tomorrow and might see Lawless afterwards.  I love days off in the week!

Top Gun is on Ch4.  It's still hilarious.  One day I'll get the DVD and watch it with German-langauge dubbing for the full gay porn experience.

"Indian Ocean - Present Day" says the caption.  Not with those haircuts, oh no.

I first saw Black Hawk Down in German. Everyone sounded so much more efficient.

Last night on the box...

3:10 To Yuma [2007]

Good old shoot 'em up western. Just what I needed at the time. Really enjoyed it.

I was reminded that, so often, it's not always about the film, but what mood you're in to recieve it that counts.

Ooo, tell us about Lawless. I quite fancy Gary Oldman the look of that.

Finally got round to watching Girl with Dragon Tattoo the yank version, having read the books watched the proper films I can honestly say CRAP!!!
most of the acting was good but I feel they completely missed the point of the story and they changed things, missed bits out and IMHO messed it up. When will the yanks learn to leave things alone, if it ain't broke and all that.

A Sunday In Hell, well I am still half way through it as work keeps getting in the way!

Went to see Brave today. Really enjoyed it. And it had THE BEAR.

Judge Dredd.

Darkly decent anti-hero movie.

Darkly decent anti-hero movie.

Really? I had very low expectations for this and was planning to avoid it..

Amighty Thor.

Hilariously bad Mockbuster with a cast of ... ooh ... three (for the most part - there were actually about 6 actors + extras).  Actually it stopped being hilariously bad after about 20 mins and became excruciating.  Then after about 50 mins it became funny again.

Good benchmark is whether or not you like the resident evil films.  If you think those are awful, then dredd isn't for you.  If you think they are on the whole ok despite their limitations, then give dredd a go.

Hmmm. I actually like the Resident Evil films....although mostly because Milla Jovovich is running around killing stuff, often half-naked....

The Hunger Games.

Actually quite enjoyable, but not a patch on Battle Royale.

'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'. Whimsical, British tragi-comedy set largely in India, and riddled with some of our best - and oldest - British actors! I thoroughly enjoyed it, particularly Maggie Smith's bitter old lady.

We saw "Ted"....an everyday story of a Man and is Toy Bear which comes to life one Christmas day.....

Now if you like fart jokes, 80's references, men being men and Toy Bears having sex, you will like this..... I loved it: My wife was non plused. Okay, its not the most brilliant of stories and the plot lines could be seen coming many miles away, but there were many laugh out loud moments. I am willing to bet there will the a "Ted 2".

Now a quick rant...if the film is scheduled to start at 5pm, please expect us to be less than pleased when we had to go and find the Manager at half five when nothing had started: not even the Adverts. Oh, he said: "Sorry we didn't realise there had been a problem." Bring back the little man in the booth I say!

Scary Movie 4.  Hit or miss, but very good in the best bits (such as a naked Leslie Nielsen bending over and making the United Nations barf in disgust, and Charlie Sheen eating a whole bottle of Viagra).

The Ipcress File (which is on iPlayer ATM). I love that movie  :) All those B107s and T104s. All so grey and grim and shabby.

We saw that on Sat and liked it. Most of the audience also seemed to like it - apart from the teenagers who walked out.

Brilliant performance from Meryll Streep.

I saw Killing them softly on Sunday.

Slow paced, depressing and with (I think deliberately) universally unlikeable characters, and including violently misogynistic dialogue throughout.  Some extremely brutal and graphically violent action scenes, telegraphed by changes to frame rate and/or slow motion photography.

The much vaunted ties with the modern economic situation highlighted in some reviews seemed a little heavy-handed and I think can be better judged with the passage of time, as could the film overall.  I can’t say I enjoyed it all that much on this viewing – it might work better if bookended by other films maybe, but I’m in no rush to watch it again soon, if ever.

Ms Weasel absolutely hated it, in particular the incredibly unpleasant characters.

Brad Pitt’s character had a closing monologue I expect to see quoted a lot though.

Scary Movie, for the first time in years.  It's still funny, especially when Ghost Face is smoking dope through a fish tank, and the notorious ejaculation scene.
