Yesterday I ate a sandwich - thick seedy bread, oak smoked ham, emmental cheese, lettuce, black pepper, and smoked salmon.
So what was so unhealthy about it I hear you ask.
The fact that I was working on my bike at the time of eating, and stored it safely on the floor, on a nice clean bit of kitchen towel while I fettled a bit more. What I failed to notice when I put the sandwich down, was the pool of FinishLine Ceramic Pro-Road chainlube that I had spilled earlier but was waiting until I finished to clean up.
I ate the sandwich and thought that it tasted pretty rough, and couldn't work out what the greasy sensation in my mouth was. Then when I inspected the paper towel, it was soaking, so I sniffed it and discovered my mistake.
I had to go to the loo in the night. Runny doesn't quite cover it.
-

Too many salty pickled plums. I've just worked out that I've eaten about ten grams of salt in the last hour. Oops!

They're a good biscuit though!
For me: coffee and walnut cake. Yum, yum, yum.

Cake. 8)

Two jam doughnuts. Well, they would have gone stale otherwise, and we're not allowed to throw food away (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4443111.stm) anymore, are we?

Two mini samosas... and I have my weigh in tomorrow. :-[
-
Sausage, hash browns and baked beans in the works canteen.
Given how far removed the canteen bangers are from what I'd call proper sausages (stop sniggering at the back there!), my second breakfast did have the virtue of being virtually vegetarian... ;D
I usually only go to the canteen on early shift for the fresh filter coffee.
-
A chicken, spinach and tomato sandwich. I shouldn't have eaten it because it was the boss's.
-
I am John and I ate a LARGE MIXED KEBAB.
There, I've said it.
It was partly cheer up food as I had been (just about) finishing off the clearance of late mother's house - straight to a skip.
-
I bought a jar of Nutella to have on toast at work, which is fine in itself.
I am such a disgusting person, however, that I have to leave the jar in my drawer at work or I will sit at home tonight/over the weekend and eat it all with a spoon.
-
Da Bomb beyond insanity (http://www.chilefarm.co.uk/beyond_insanity_hot_sauce.html) on my food tonight.
My lips are still numb :-X :-X

You're not alone in that particular weakness.....
A Caramellow mini-bar from Hotel Chocolat (http://www.hotelchocolat.com/). But to be fair, it was to fortify me for the gardening ahead...

Thanks, its good to know I am not the only sinner! It is a damn good job it is locked in my desk drawer at this moment or I would have succumbed.
Hotel Chocolat is very, very nice indeed.

-
Fish and double chips.
But I didn't have a pudding so I claim 5 bonus points.
-
Burger and a pint at the pub at the end of the audax. Then a 10-mile bike ride home. Then Dominos Pizza.
But I too claim my bonus points, because I also bought minstrels, chocolate-covered raisins, cashew nuts and Ben & Gerrys Ice Cream, none of which I've eaten. Also, the remaining half pizza is earmarked for tomorrow's supper.
I have plans, involving a microwave oven, for the minstrels, then to be poured over the ice-cream.
-
Yesterday I had a large helping of a particularly fine jalfrezi curry.
Today the other end is regretting it. :-X
The restaurant was the aptly-named Khyber Pass.
-
I don't know quite what went wrong, but my insides were not happy after I ate small white pickled onions (as part of a fearsome piccalilli) with a nice piece of ham on Saturday. I won't be doing that again. :hand:
-
Nothing so far ... which is a small miracle.
-
yet more Green & Blacks chocolate icecreeeeammmm & too much red wine ;D
-
A rocky road bar from the vending machine here. I missed breakfast and had a slight hangover after drowning my sorrows last night in a bottle of red (working 200 miles from home and the car blew up as I got here) and it was calling to me.
-
Packet of Mars Planets and a packet of peanut M&Ms.
Won't be eating much for the rest of the day now :(
-
A 100g bar of Dark chocolate with orange peel pieces.
Melted in a microwave and poured over quite a greedy helping of Ben & Jerry's Vanilla Ice Cream.

I made 18 rhubarb muffins, and I've eaten three.
-
I made 18 rhubarb muffins, and I've eaten three.
I am deeply jealous. Rhubarb muffins sound like perfection.
-
I've never made them before. A colleague brought me rhubarb from her garden and I decided to make it into something, so I googled. They've turned out very well.
300g rhubarb, chopped finely
3 tablespoons golden caster sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
300g plain flour
100g golden caster sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 eggs, beaten
200ml milk
100g butter
demerara sugar
Preheat the oven to gas mark 6/200C and line a 12-hole muffin tin with paper cases.
Mix the rhubarb with the 3 tbsp golden sugar and bake in the oven for 10 minutes, until just tender. Drain well and cool on kitchen paper.
Sift the flour, baking powder and cinnamon into a large bowl and stir the caster sugar in. Melt the butter. In another bowl beat together the eggs, milk and melted butter. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ones and then stir in the rhubarb. Don't overstir - the mixture should retain some lumps. Divide the mixture between the paper cases and top with demerara sugar. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and well risen.
-
Chocolate from the machine. The world was a horrible place a 11.30am after a Double Decker and a cup of tea, it seems a whole lot better?
-
Not sure yet, but I just roasted the hemp sprouts (see below) and ate most of them. I may have more to tell tomorrow.

A packet of Walkers Cheese and Onion crisps! :-[
-
A packet of Yorkshire crisps and a growler form the farm shop at the bottom of Pool Bank.
-
A success story for today: I purchased a brownie with my coffee, but having realised that it would constitute about 20% of my total daily requirement, I've decided to keep it for consumption on the FNRttC :-)

Pink Wafers. Yum.

3 custard doughnuts :-[ I did give two away though. O:-)

The life expectancy of a vanilla slice in this house can be measured in minutes;certainly less than 60 of the same.
However, there is one in the fridge which has been there since lunchtime today :o
Now that it has been rediscovered it is in mortal danger ;)
-
Hyderabad green chilli pickle... well, I ate it last night, but it's today that I realise my mistake.

An entire pack of Thornton's Whisky Truffles.

Two white crusty rolls.
-
Some Japanese sweets, from the collection placed on my desk for colleagues to dip into in accordance with local tradtion.
-
In our office it's tradition that on somebodies birthday they bring in some junk food for everybody to share. My colleagues do not think it is junk food though and are only too keen to tuck in. Today I am guilty of having something that can be described as like a mince pie but made with Puff Pastry. I have said that on my birthday I'm going to bring in a big bag of Apples but the response is not repeatable.
-
A sixteen course jacobean banquet
-
We have a certain amount of "goodies" lurking from Xmas time so today: & yesterday & the day before: I have been saving Marj from herself & scoffing
After Eight mints,Ferro Roche's,dark chocolate mint crisps,Green & Blacks dark chocolate.
I intend to do my "Paul Daniels Impression" later by making a few bottles of Grolsh dissappear while watching the football on ITV.
This strict regime of notdieting will continue untill it's all gone or Ist Feb,whichever comes first after which sensible eating will be part of getting in shape(round is a shape ??? ) for JoGLe

Profiteroles :-[

Profiteroles :-[
Long gone.
In this house if you blink you miss 'em :P
-
Whole Toblerone.
Made me nearly fall asleep watching euro rugby from Bath. Or Mud Bath, as it was.
-
I HAD CHEEZBURGER
In my defence, it was a Sainsbug's organic burger with Double Gloucester instead of whatever McVomit use in lieu of real cheese, rocket, and organic ketchup...
Rather nice, too.
-
Well I've just got back from a cold ride and demolished a whole packet of chocolate biscuits with my pot of coffee. Then I realised that in my haste I had eaten the expensive ones , not the cheapos that are purchased for just that sort of situation.

I'm still eating Christmas cake!
Marj has taken the icing off ours & we are eating it as a fruit cake.
-
A cornish pasty, a ham, cheese and tomato croissant and the majority of a bottle of red - that's the diet blown for today then.
-
Lots and lots and lots of Mini Toblerones.
Stress did it.
-
Most of it.
-
Tunnocks caramel wafer - well several actually :-X
-
Not sure how you eat several....
-
All too easily, washed down with a big mug of tea....
-
I see - I had assumed the accumulation of ultrasticky caramel would eventually glue the mouth shut...
-
Ah I think you must be thinking of Highland toffee :)
-
One Snickers. 296 calories and 15% of my recommended GDA apparently.
Yum!
-
Lem£on cake
-
Well, yesterday, but raw egg.
Top tip - if you want to break an egg, don't do it on the handle of the frying pan. France being France, you've also not got the nice backup of them being salmonella free. The inevitable ensued at 3:10 this morning and then at hourly intervals for the next 6 hours.
-
Hmph. No time for lunch before the meeting, and no food left by the time they'd finished bickering. :(
Chocolate didn't fill the gap quite right...
-
a packet of smokey bacon crisps & 6 digestive biscuits ::-)
-
A whole Soreen.
Well, a half one looks so silly!
-
I'm afraid I had a chocolate incident.
-
A whole Soreen.
Nowt amiss with that
-
Um.
Chocolate. :(

The remainder of the caramel and chocolate topped short bread slab in the fridge.

I had a full blunge-up all day breakfast for lunch in The Berrisford Tearooms in Hartington. That was approx 1230 pm,& it's still not digested
It made this afternoons ride home not at all comfortable.
-
3 slices from an un-iced 2006 Christmas cake that I found lurking in the pantry.
Didn't have any Wensleydale, so cheddar had to do.
-
Impromptu chocolate sauce made with equal quantities of cocoa, sugar and cream!
-
Chocolate-topped malted milk biscuits and pork curry from the chinese takeaway just down the street. It was awfully good :D
-
A screw from my gear shifter.
<Jimmy Young>
And this is what you do...
Take off gear shifter from handlebars.
Go somewhere nice and warm, a kitchen is ideal
Put a piece of kitchen roll on the worktop, to protect it against stains.
Dismantle the gear shifter, taking care to put the weeny screws altogether.
Persuade wife to make a cup of coffee.
Locate chocolate brownie purchased earlier, indeed on the very ride where you noticed the gear shifter misbehaving.
Take sip of coffee.
Take bite of brownie.
Be a bit cavalier in the placing of your brownie. Too close to the kitchen roll and pile of screws is ideal.
Take another bite of brownie.
Wonder what crunchy bit is.
Spit out one of two identical screws.
Swallow.
Look fruitlessly for remaining screw.
-
Two glasses of white wine (well, one, as I am polishing off the second as I type), as I am racing on the Cam tomorrow at 9am.
Which sums up my attitude to competitive sport (yes, why not, as long as it doesn't interfere with something important. Like wine.)
-
Cake and flapjack after racing this morning. I might have deserved it though...
-
a vanilla slice :demon:
haven't had one for a very long time :smug:

-
Seriously? You're a nutter - but good for you!
-
Seriously?
Most certainly, & I hope to get round to it quicker than the ten years it took for the recently completed JoGLE.
-
You're a nutter !
you are not the first person to make that accusation ::-)

Half a jar of nutella :(
Sainsbury's have 750g jars of Nutella for £2.79.
I take it you didn't consume half of one of those?
;) ;D
-
Too many adjectives:
Golden flakes of crisped maize, topped with
Locally sourced, organic, sun-ripened English strawberries, dredged with
Superfine cystals of pure white English beet sugar
British single cream
milk
-
Half an open carton of Sainsbury's apple juice with a "use by" date of 29th May (2008) that I found lurking in the bottom of the fridge.
I presume I must have drunk the first half last May or June.
I was quite expecting it to be very off, but it smelled OK, looked OK, and the first sip tasted OK so I drank it. No damage yet (since Wednesday).

I got a phone call this evening to tell me that our Rowing Club's electricity supply had been cut off, because of this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/derbyshire/8103925.stm), less than 100 yds away. So the beer in the cellar was going to warm up. After filling the cellar-to-bar pipes with water (to prevent the yeast-monster setting up home), there was still the matter of what to do with the several gallons of Pedigree in the cask that had been serving. Fortunately (!), other club members were on hand to fill and take home 4-pint carry-out containers. And the captain left one for me.
So I nominate Marston's Pedigree. And on a school-night too.
-
Half a vanilla slice.
Do I get + points for eating only half of it?
-
Kitkat chunky. I wasn't even hungry. :(
-
A whole 70g packet of Sainsbroid's white chocolate buttons. I felt a little bit dirty afterwards and I'm going to go and do intervals in Richmond Park tonight to make up for it...
