Finding bits of the bitumen/tar used for roofing work (after the roofers and their hot tank of asphalt had departed) and chewing it , like gum.

Making sandwiches with ketchup for the filling.

The most bizarre thing that I did as a kid was believe my older brother.
I feel like Captain Kirk, on a brand new planet every day, a little like King Kong on top of the Empire State

There was a shrub of some sort that grew next to the heating oil tank in the school playground. At one time there was a fad for breaking off twigs, peeling the bark and chewing the white pithy stuff inside.

Ah we had one of those (a shrub I mean - the area around the heating oil tank was a toxic wasteland where nothing would grow).  The fad was for tearing up the leaves to extract some sort of white crumbly substance, understood to function as itching powder, which would then be deposited down the collar of your victim.

Eating marmite straight out of the jar with a spoon

That's on a par with eating condensed milk from the tim with a spoon - superb!

Kim suggests wearing my socks inside out as a child (and still do now) is bizarre.

I do not think this is bizarre. I don't like the feel of the seam against my toes, when inside out most socks seams feel less bad.

I assume you mean tin?  The Tim is the person responsible in our house for eating all the biscuits when nobody will own up.

I was holding back from confessing to eating butterscotch sauce from the jar with a spoon because:

1. not bizarre, and;
2. my mum might see this!

(Sorry, mum).

A family friend (and father of several of my and my siblings' friends1) did this.

Seem logical as many socks have a harsh toe seam.

Some socks are designed so the seam is on the outside. And some you can't tell which side is which.
