6 riders to be named:
2 x Italians, 2 x Spaniards, 1 x Russian, 1 x Slovenian
...and Pellizotti has just been withdrawn from Liquigas press conference. So that'll be one of the Italians!
Pellizotti, Prado and Valjavec have been named.
Wiggins for the win.

And Wiggins wins! First pink jersey to Bradley
An excellent 5th place for Adam Blythe today. I saw him riding grass-track at Mildenhall in 2004. As a 14-year-old he was mixing it with men twice his age and size, and despite the disparity was holding his own and winning. I was so impressed I made a mental note of his name, thinking I'd probably hear of him again someday. I think we'll be hearing a lot more of him before long. That's uncanny - that's pretty much word for word what I just saying to Mrs C, except I was referring to the velodrome at Meadowbank rather than grass track at Mildenhall.
Very interesting stage today. Glad I had the chance to watch it live via NOS. Now waiting for a decent report on it for those who haven't seen it yet (so I won't reveal the highligths ;) ).But if someone didn't want to know the result would they really be so dim as to start paging through a thread entitled 'Giro' and clearly discussing the various stage results ?
Just saw the TTT result :(
Just saw the TTT result :(
But if they'd had the weather that Liquigas had they'd have won. I don't know why though, I just have a niggle about the men in green. I can't quite bring myself to believe in them.
I wonder where Bradley would be in the GC if he hadn't been fubar'd byt eh crashes on days 2 and 3?
Don't miss today's finish. I'll say no more. ;)

It was good, wasn't it?
And now back to doing what I should have been doing..

Does anybody know a good website for up to date results. I've tried BBC, Eurosport and the official Giro D'italia sites and they all seem to be 24 hours behind.Could it be that there was a rest day for the transfer to Italy and there was nothing new to report ?

Hope that helps
I'm watching the live coverage on Eurosport now and... they're racing bikes on those roads in those conditions? Wow. Hats off to the lot of them.
Most of the riders are so covered in mud as to be barely recognisable.

I must say, despite my reservations about Vino, I'm really enjoying his performance today. True grit.

Fantastic ride by Millar yesterday. But what happened to Wiggins ?
But where are Millar and Evans?
Overall placings are going to be interesting now.

Richie Porte in pink now? He should still have around 8 minutes on Wiggins.
People are saying Xavier Tondo is the new danger man
...with a strong-ish, disciplined team.
I've utterly bewildered by the various media covering Pro Cycling these days:
can anyone kindly point me at an English language commentary (highlights package would be nice, too)? on the web I mean.
[I only have Freeview TV ].

The BMC team is really weak. Evans must have been jolly unhappy at Lotto to swap them for that lo
Evans must have been jolly unhappy
He looked jolly unhappy this afternoon when he was tradingpuncheshandbags with all and sundry not far from the finish.

I saw that but I was watching in Italian so I couldn't make out what had upset him. What was the beef?

Why was Evans so keen to chase? at 11' down overall he wasn't worried about another 10 seconds was he?He looked jolly unhappy this afternoon when he was tradingpuncheshandbags with all and sundry not far from the finish.

I think his victims (a Lampre and a Katusha rider) both had team-mates up the road with Vino's group and were sitting on the front of the peloton but understandably not putting much effort into the chase. But I may be wrong.
Evans showed his class again, but as for Basso... either that's the benefit of keeping your powder dry on the previous days or that wasn't just water in his bidons.
A superhuman feat of climbing. I really hope it was clean. :-\
Well ......
A superhuman feat of climbing. I really hope it was clean. :-\
I'm afraid to say I very much doubt it.
To be fair to Basso, he had been taking it relatively easy compared to other riders on previous stages, so probably wasn't as tired going into the stage. He gets the benefit of the doubt for now.
What is clear from this year's Giro so far is that certain riders aren't as capable of turning in those kind of performances day after day in the same way that they used to be. Which I take as a positive sign.

I have always like Basso. It was following an article in Cycle Sport that I decided to follow him as a rider. Then just after that Puerto broke. Even though I didn't know him and had never actually met him I felt very let down and disappointed.
Then he served his time and met with that bit of controversy and then he seemed to go nowhere in any of the races he entered.
But of late he is flying and doing a great job.
I just so hope it is clean.
As much as it pains me to not back an Aussie ( I have never really enjoyed watching or listening to Evans ) I too would love to see Basso win.
You are dead right about the comparison between him and Vino too.
It's funny how assistance from teammates is treated so differently from "wheelsucking".;D good point, but you know what I mean ;D and anyway, when Evans was at Lotto he didnt have any team mates did he?
;D
So it's 2010 and we have a fairly well established drug cheat winning a grand tour.
Plus ca change...
