OK, Real Life TM seems to be abating a little so I should be OK for tomorrow evening.  I'll leave Witham at 7ish and head straight for the Beehive.

Anyone else up for some sort of Mid-Essex Brief Encounter?

Hello chaps,
Sorry - life and other things have been getting in the way. Hope to meet up with some of you soon!

 Wednesday 2nd December, lockdown ends at 00:01 in the morning, apparently, unless the rules and their interpretation change. Again. ::-) Waiting to see what the tier system is for us though ... and what will actually be open on 2nd. Partytime for groups of 6 soon we hope!

Yes, a group of six back in play would be great! Let's see, Tom.
Also, my dyno lights turned up today!!

Exactly! I might have tomorrow off to wire them up! Also have a washing machine to put in.

Where on your bike does the washing machine go?

After seeing my packing strategy for the recent bivvy extravaganza, some might take this seriously!

So it looks like the group of six will be back on after lockdown with an extra hour at the pub!

Actually it looks like the rule of 6 will be back on with no pub - unless we are all going to eat together outside as well  :(

Is it time to resurrect MEWBS - Mid-Essex Weekend Breakfast Series.  At least we could find an open cafe and ride together.

Well I am good with a meal outside and a few beers. If that meal has to be substantial then that just makes me even happier!

It's an option

EER just needs to locate local pubs that serve substantial meals, that have outside covered and heated seating and that are still open.

It looks like the Swan at Totham, Bell at Totham and the Alma are all contenders.

Agreed, always good to have options.

Just passed The Anchor, Danbury. They now have a covered area with tables.....not sure about heating options.

I feel really sorry for the pubs that invested in covered and heated outdoor seating based on the previous Tier 2 rules.

It does seem like a bit of a gulf between 6 people allowed to socialise indoors at a pub in the new T1 to the new T2 rules.   It also makes the extended opening hours a bit pointless.  Only wet pubs really keep much of a crowd beyond about 9pm when pubs generally stop serving food.

A MEWBS sounds good. Could just meet up in a field and have a brew up...

Now you're talking! Top of TMNH?  I'm sure the grass has grown back after my little "incident"

Birds of a feather you two.

I was hoping we could entice some of our more genteel members out - Huggy, AndyC33333333333333, BFC, Grey Sheep etc but they insist on clean cafes with proper china and doilies
rather than hiding out in a random field tinkering with a trangia.

I spotted some picnic tables adjacent to the footpath off Jollyboys (Felsted) today as I came through there... I prefer some comforts rather than breaking my back whilst trying to avoid burning off my eyebrows....

It’s just been suggested we can bring flasks down if we’re here.

Are any of the Witham based Acme/Memwns lot about tomorrow to have a spin of my dynamo wheel (ooohhh errrr). It's a cheap decathlon one and I think it has a lot of resistance but not an expert and would like to compare it to better one before I splash out on something new. I can either do during day between school runs or in the evening

I'm should be around all day. SP PV8 , PV9 and SON Deluxe hubbed wheels available for comparison. And knowledge/tools for getting at the bearings on most designs I have encountered so far (including Shimano).

PM me for address.
