The yacf Musky Reindeer Pelt of Destiny
« on: 14 December, 2012, 02:23:41 pm »
At this year's Essex Christmas Do I wore a reindeer costume purchased off the interweb.  I have to say it proved to be quite a hit and I've never had so many people offer to shoot me.  There are some pictures, and video  :o , in the thread but here's one of me about to set off:

During the course of the day and evening the reindeer pelt began to develop a smell all of it's own, a provocative and musky blend of sweat, beer and mud.  It was therefore brave, indeed foolhardy, of Tomsk to take over the pelt and cycle off to a CTC DA Christmas lunch on the day after the Do:

Should you wish to take the yacf Musky Reindeer Pelt of Destiny on an adventure please get in touch with Tomsk.  Once you have had your adventure post some photos and arrange to pass the pelt on.  Perhaps the pelt will make it back to Essex in time for next year's Christmas Do - who knows!

After spending much of 2013 languishing in Tomsk's loft The Pelt is on the move again.

On Wednesday evening an Extraordinary General Meeting of the mid-Essex yacf Chapter was convened at The Compasses to discuss this year's Christmas Do.

Tomsk bought along The Pelt ...

... and Huggy bravely, although not entirely willingly, agreed to wear said Pelt at this year's event.

Then was there the small matter of transporting The Pelt from Littley Green back to Witham.  Huggy claimed he had no means of attaching The Pelt to his bicycle.  Fearing he would conveniently leave The Pelt at The Compasses I rummaged in The Magic Bag Lite TM and found a length of paracord.  But, my knot tying foo deserted me and I ended up stuffing The Pelt up my jumper.

The Pelt was handed over to Huggy just after we entered Witham but not before Huggy attempted to sprint for home leaving me with The Pelt up my jumper.  There was some shouting and a short chase  ::-)   ;D

3. Whilst cycling you may wear the hood in the lowered position

Oh deary, deary me, The Musky Reindeer Pelt of Destiny thread hasn't been updated with the goings on on our the 2014 Xmas Do, which in fact was held in January 2015, thus starting the latest craze to sweep the nation, that being celebrating Epiphany instead of Christmas as we are doing again this year ... I mean next year.

Anyhow, last year ... I mean this year ... Oaky wore The Pelt.  I'm sure pictures will surface but in the meantime the opening shots of HUGGY's FILM will suffice.

The January 2015 Epiphany
Oaky was the custodian of The Pelt for the festivities and wore it with pride  ;D

Flatbar Steve took on the honor at the end of the 2015 event
South East Essex CTC were surprised when The Pelt joined them for lunch on Sunday

Oh noes! Oaky's legs have been amputated and replaced with YACF water bottles! Top surgery by the ACME crew!

True story.

The mascot of Cambridge United FC is Marvin the Moose because one of their longstanding away fans "smelled like a moose".  Appropriately, mascot costumes, being furry, well-insulated and impossible to wash, always smell like mooses after a few home games.

Does this mean you are in the vicinity of The People's Republic of Mid-Essex?

Nope. I live a long way away from Mid Essex, and the mountain ranges between there and here in south Suffolk will be totally impassable come December.

The Pelt was little seen after the 2015 edition. OD wondered if the Pelt did still exist? - a proof of Life was required!
It turned out The Pelt was now a west Londoner and can be seen here planning travel, looking towards his spiritual Essex home and what else we really don't know

Unfortunately it's custodian had mechanical issues and gave up on making it to that years edition

Pelt update...

At 2017 Epiphany Do The Pelt was passed to GavinSSN and apparently its spent the last two years living at the bottom of his family's laundry basket, hmmm, I might pop over to Bookers in Colchester to buy some job lots of Febreze.  I don't have any photos of GSSN wearing The Pelt but I think FB Steve might.

Like myself, GSSN didn't make to Epiphany in 2018 so The Pelt hasn't been passed on.  I hope to recover it from GSSN in time for the next Do.

Just noticed that in the photos above, The Pelt is wearing sandals (I assume they're SPD sandals) with socks. The Pelt might be musty, but never anything other than the epitome of style and taste.  :D
