A bit brief on details but looks like it might make for some interesting racing (providing they have N Yorks Police on board this year!)

Brilliant, we will be living near Blackpool by then so we could concievably watch the start and then make it to Liverpool for the finish without too much trouble. Can't wait.

Thanks for the heads up tiermat.

I might make it to Dalby for the stage finish, chances are the ch*** from K-o-H will still be chasing them, trying to steal their bikes! :)

Brilliant!  There's a stage starting in my home town (Darlington) - I'll have to get along to see that!  I don't think there's been a cycle race come through here since the Milk Race in 1980-something

It'll be interesting to see what the route is round the Moors - those little climbs are always interesting when there's a big bunch on the road.

Time to go into the B&B business, you lot.

It says Wolverhampton on the website?

Would be better if it was to be honest as I missed last year's Wolverhampton finish as was away on honeymoon. Will miss ths years too when you away for first year anniversary.

Tour of Britain 2008 is launched
The 2008 Tour of Britain was launched today at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden where a full house heard Tour of Britain CEO Hugh Roberts unveil plans for the biggest event to date.

The 8 day race will begin on the 7th September in the heart of London with a race around an 8.5km circuit that will be covered 10 times. From there the riders will work their way around the country over the next 7 days before finishing in Liverpool on 14th Novemeber.

The full race itinerary is:
7th September: The TfL London stage
8th September: Milton Keynes - Newbury
9th September: Chard - Burnham-on-Sea
10th September: Worcester - Wolverhampton
11th September: Kingston-upon-Hull - Dalby Forest
12th September: Darlington - NewcastleGateshead
13th September: Glasgow - Dumfries & Galloway
14th September: Blackpool - Liverpool

Full details of the individual stage routes will be unveiled on a regional basis over the next few months. Keep checking back to tourofbritain.co.uk for more information.

That's off the website. And Cylingnews says the same.

The Dalby stage finish should be good too. Used to live only a few miles from there and the forest drive road round was one of my faves.

Stage 4 – The West Midlands
The race received a fantastic reception in Worcestershire in 2007 with massive crowds throughout the county, especially through the picturesque town of Malvern Spa. We’ll be returning again in 2008 to start the race once again at Worcester race course before heading north to finish for the first time in Stoke on Trent, a hotbed of cycling throughout the years and home to some of the great names of British cycling history.

Is it me?  Or them?  :-\

...the picturesque market town of Newbury.
This assumes it has more than 5 metres of continuous road by then  ;D
I'd offer you some moral support - but I have questionable morals.

Chard to Burnham on Sea?

Sounds like going up over Wheddon X hurt their little legs last year [:)]

It's a bit lumpy around Chard but Burnham on Sea is real flat Somerset stuff
