Cheap PAYG mobile
« on: 22 August, 2018, 08:33:25 pm »
My little LG PAYG mobile seems to have died.  I can't replace it directly as a mate bought three for a group of us about three years ago.  This one was quad band i.e. Japan as well, and had a massive battery life on standby, distinctly an un-smart phone.

Can anyone recommend a replacement?

This will be a standby, want a long battery life, internet access not required, at least tri-band ideally.

I got one of these from Vodafone 3 or 4 years back.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_100
I think it cost a tenner.

^ +1.

I've got a something similar by Nokia.  It's 2g, but more modern ones are available.  Never needs charging (seems that way), Tesco Mobile PAYG,  rarely needs feeding, only used when away from a landline, or to say I'll be back later than predicted when out on the bike.

Reliable, unbreakable, simple, makes calls and texts.  What more do you need?

Nokia 105 is free with a £10 top up on vodaphone from carphone whorehouse.

Phone is unlocked but won't accept a 3 sim, as it is only a 2g phone.

bought this in the end https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B078XQH3VL?ref_=pe_3187911_248764861_302_E_DDE_dt_1

Local Carphone Whorehouse had nothing in stock and the kindly Mr Tesco Mobile suggested a tropical solution to the problem.
