Jenny Graham goes straight

...for four days in the Cairngorms. Walking the longest possible straight line in Britain without crossing a paved road, which turns out to be 40-odd miles in the Cairngorms. Not deviating from the line by more than a dozen or so metres regardless of terrain. Kind of artificial but at the same time just fun (even if in a Type 2 manner at times).

I like the way the subtitles said things like [Calum speaks foreign language] when it was Gaelic.

and "in one day" came up as "in London", among other misinterpretations.

That Robert Twigger book (a new name to me) sounds very interesting.

I read his first book "Angry White Pyjamas" which detailed his experience as a "live in" student/dogsbody on a very intensive 1 year Aikido black belt course in Tokyo.  As a serious martial artist myself at the time* it seemed very true to life.  (3rd Dan in jujitsu, 25 years ago when I was slim & fit!)

Dim recollection of a story in an ancient edition of the CTC mag about a chap's attempt to ride as close as possible to the Greenwich Meridian from Sussex to E. Yorkshire.  I'd have been more impressed if he’d done the African section though :P
