My Eee PC threw a wobbler!

I am not doing too well with this technology lark today.
My broadband fell over at 13.15 and I am connected via my Voda PAYG dongle.
I was writing an email on BT Yahoo when my Eee PC screen went blank yellow and no key did anything.
After disconnecting both mains and battery, reconnecting and restarting, all seems well.
Is crashing like this common?

It did something simlar again. (Pale blue screen this time.) Seems I moved computer/USB dongle while the latter was connected.
I'll be more careful in future (or  use the USB extension cable).
