...I have been "training" sunday/monday/tuesday and I have to take a large parcel to Taunton and pick up

1) a tent
2) a bag of cement
3) a bag of sand
4) a couple of handbells

I don't have a trailer or a cargo bike so don't give me a hard time about this :)

four items= 2 front panniers + 2 rear panniers
 ;) ;D

Perhaps you'd like to demonstrate how it should be done?  If you are short on tents and handbells simply make up the difference with extra sand.

The route is Devon to Somerset via the Blackdown hills, approx 300m climbing

I did a hilly 100km after two weeks off the bike, and I'm aching so much that walking is painful. I don't know how I'm going to be ready for a hilly 150km in 3 weeks time.

So I'm in the car  :-[

I could have commuted by bike but I ran in instead, to accompany Nano J, who rode the 4 miles to nursery on his teeny-weeny little bike.  Knees going up and down like pistons, and chattering away like a loft full of starlings. ;D  ;D

Pico is a little poorly so stayed back with Mum and with Mini and Micro who are on their hols.

... but after back-to-back night rides and the race to catch the train from Diss I just couldn't be arsed.  I even went so far as catching a bus to the tube station (10 min walk).  Today I am officially a lazy barsteward.

...slept badly and didn't wake up in time for a pre-work ride, so just the short dash to the nearest station. As a result, I am now sliding rapidly down the bikejournal league table. Bugger.

Still, only need to clock about 80km this week to make it a second 1,000km month in a row, which I've got to be happy with.

I'm quite excited because I've got 1000km again this month.  I need to do 150km to beat my best ever (last month), and that's likely, given the rest of this week and Saturday's tandemming.  Plus 120km will get me to 6000km for the year, which will make me awfully happy.

Gotta keep riding

Well done!

I'm hoping to trip past 1,000km tomorrow - just got to make sure I get up early enough to get a decent ride in before work. Not that I'm obsessed or anything.  ;D

Another 110km for me will get me to 4,000km for the year, which I'm pretty pleased with considering my slow start.

Yup. I'm off work for the first two weeks of August, so I'll need to find some motivation other than the commute to keep the mileage ticking over. Ought to be easy in theory but I suppose I really ought to spend some time with the family. Reckon I should be able to sneak in a couple of crafty DIY 200s though.

I girded my loins, prepared for a manly battle against the elements, a battle such as sagas are made.

Then my wife informed me that:

a) It would be stupid to ride in today's weather.

b) She needed me to get home early to cook dinner.

I said "yes dear" and caught the train.

I'm resting my legs for FNRttC to Brighton, tonight.  Feels unclean, though, coming in on train and tube.

I feel particularly awkward when passed by cyclists on my way to/from the station.  Is there some kind of badge I can wear to show that I'm really a cyclist?  Apart from , that is ;)

I could have commuted in today but...

... I just couldn't be fucking arsed.

First time in months. The two others in the office where, by the grace of the gods, I can keep my bike both remarked on how odd it was not to have a bike on top of the filing cabinets  :)
