I'm often struck by how wonderful the place we live in is... and how that contrasts with the destruction and suffering elsewhere.

I thought the sting of death was hitting the bottom of the cliff? But it probably wouldn't sting if you were still wrapped up in your bivvy bag!

After re-reading this ride report, and drooling over the gorgeous photos, it's striking how much the countryside has changed in the few weeks since then.  The limes and yellows of June have been replaced by deeper greens, the heat is heavier, and I've had to start dead-heading the roses.
those changing seasons are quite a big part of it.
Riding a concrete path through the nebulous and chaotic future.
