Archer and Anderson steam through the top 5 in 10 overs.  ;D

1000 for 5 after 10 overs - it's just possible if they bowl as many no-balls as the Indians!

Great to see live cricket on free TV again! Was watching Root this morning and I've just realised his shirt number is 66. Only taken a hundred tests to realise this  ::-)

I don't know what the shirt-numbering system is but at one point 22, 55, 66, 77 and 99 were on the field - and the deficit was 333.  Then at stumps the same shirts were accompanied by a batsman's score of 33 and there had been 33 overs in the session.  Got to be a betting scam!!!!    ;)

The cricket's good, too!

That double wicket maiden by Jimmy Anderson was well worth the 4 am alarm. Removed 2 top batsmen with identical balls, made all the more dramatic by the two batsmen holding their forward defensive pose, even as the stumps lay flat and the bails were nowhere to be seen.  And Rahane having been beaten the previous ball and being saved by the narrowest of umpire's calls.

Up there with Flintoff v Ponting in 2005.

Into Day 3 of the second test. India demonstrated in Australia how good they were at overcoming a setback. Looks as though they are doing it again.

6 wickets for 35 runs at one point. Also Rooooot had 3 overs, 3 maidens, 3 wickets.

It’s a weird wicket for the first test at a spanking new ground.

Root has his first 5 wicket haul;not just in tests but in first-class cricket.  However, another way to look at it (the true British way) is that India managed to score a third more than England, who will possibly be 4 down before they are level.  But for the moment forget the football results and ....... REJOICE!

Sadly, I don't think he'll have time - and it looks like my prophecy is still on, damn it.

Edit OK, I was a wicket shy!

I'm surprised Stokes lasted as long as he did.  He played really irresponsibly, I think.

Think Jaded might have it here - a 2-day test match; who needs the Hundred?!
