Alpkit on a recumbent
« on: 30 August, 2016, 07:51:45 am »
Anyone got any experience of this?

In particular I was looking at

This  https://www.alpkit.com/products/possum-large as a framebag along the front of the boom, having seen one on an upwrong on Sunday

And this https://www.alpkit.com/products/love-mud-bheesty as the M5 only has one set of bottle cage mounts, unless I drill the seat some more.

Between those, I reckon I could set the M5 up as a fast light tourer

yes, noticed that as well, was going to talk to them about it. Also interested in whether any of the stock version have been used successfully, and any general impressions on quality etc

I use a couple of their dry bags, strapped to my rack as very back and light panniers.
Works well, weighs very little, very cheap.
I've made a Correx stiffener which I place inside each bag to stop them flexing into the wheel.

I got one of the early custom framebags from when that was all they did. Quality is pretty good. Not quite as heavy duty as a Revelate framebag but given the difference in price perfectly acceptable. I've heard the stock versions are good. Might be worth looking at Wildcat Gear as well, especially if you decide to go custom.

Hi Dave. I have Alpkit stem cells and a fuel pod. At least I think that's what they are called. I also have a double ended dry bag. VERY handy. The quality is very good for the price. As good as my Revelate stuff. Importantly their customer service is exemplary, so if you are not 100% happy, I'm confident they would be amicable.

They do have stock problems sometimes. But in their favour: they keep their prices low and as a result, stock flies out of their warehouse. Who wants to sit on stock anyway?

I've bought loads off them. One of my favourite suppliers at the moment. Happy shopping.
