Sparrowhawks among the pigeons

There was a piece on R4 yesterday in which a pigeon-fancier was bemoaning the increase of the number of sparrowhawks in urban areas and the effect they were having on racing pigeons. I have to say that I am on the side of the sparrowhawks.

The pigeon-fancier they interviewed was bemoaning the fact that the sparrowhawks, having moved into urban areas, were not occupying their "natural" environment, completely missing the irony embedded within this line of objection.

Oddly enough, at tonight's gig Rory MacLeod did a song about how nature should not be allowed to run wild.

I think it was satirical.
