Watching a programme about University Challenge.

Coming from a very working class background, University Challenge was my only exposure to University as a child. I watched avidly and it was the single thing that allowed a working class girl the belief that there was something better out there than working in the EverReady Battery factory. Unfortunately the programme ended in 1987. I was due to go up in 1988. Still I was the first female member of my family and only the second member of my family to go to University. The first to graduate with a First Class and the first to research a doctorate. So I have a lot to thank the programme for.

Have a lovely Birthday Gill, you share a birthday with my Uncle. I'm looking forward to taking him a card, some chocolates and out to lunch. Are you doing anything nice tomorrow?

I'm not looking forward to my birthday as I'm worried that a spiteful ex will try and do something to spoil my day, so I think I'm going into hiding until it is all over. I was going away, but I can't travel due to some treatment I have to have, so I've put my travel date back to the end of the month. Perhaps - should postpone my birthday to then.

Thanks Ellie, hope yours isn't as bad as you expect it to be. No plans for tomorrow, both boys home and we are eating out tomorrow night, maybe a short cycle ride to test out the new gear I will be acquiring
