Crowd noise

Here's the noise for Oscar Pistorious on Sat night.

I'm pretty sure that I saw 117dB at the Velodrome, but no record of it. 110dB at most venues we went to.
It is simpler than it looks.

Interesting. I was reflecting how the volume of sound will change dependent on where you happen to be; in the stadium the distances were so large that the actual sound volume is likely to have been higher in places. Looking at this http://www.gcaudio.com/resources/howtos/loudness.html and considering the Velodrome, I think the Veoldrome would have beat it by a gnats breath at least, if only because it was far smaller and enclosed.

Whilst the crowd noise was incredible, IMHO the "loudest" noise was the bass during the Rio segment at the Paralympics closing ceremony.
It hit you in the chest.

We were in the upper level for the Opening Ceremony and I had my earplugs in for most of it - the speakers pointed down at us.
