The walk-in run (finished building it a little over a year ago - all by my own fair hand...)

Anth, that is a lovely WIR, and I'm jealous.  I'm trying to persuade Stephen we need a WIR in the Spring.

Our hens are hybrids too.  They were a bit skittish when we got them, but after a few days they would eat from my hand and then it was really easy to tame them.  I can now pick them up whenever I need to and Gwennie likes a little cuddle - the others aren't so keen.  They came with the Eglu cube.  However I shall get hybrids again although may try different hybrids (e.g. Bluebelle or Speckledy).

We don't really like this snow thing...

We decided very quickly that it was better in our nice warm dry run.  First time I've ever had the door of the run open and they refused to come out!

Today the snow is worse and they are desperate to get out but that is because the tree surgeons are here and they want to go and "help".

It's about to get very gratuitous  :D

I got sent home from work early and Julian was working from home, so we got to spend the late afternoon letting our chooks enjoy their first ever walk in the snow.

Our chicken house looks like it's pretty cozy - even in the snow.

Out they step...

Here's Sylvia, not so sure about the whole "leaving the run" deal:

And Adela, none so sure about matters:

And Emmeline, doing the funky chicken:

It's good to see that you're both wearing your hi-vis, so there's no risk of being run down in your back garden. ;D
Actually, it is rocket science.

I was wearing so many jumpers that only my Aldi Special would fit over the top, and C. was just back from cycling home.

I'd like to point out that this is the first time I've worn that jacket in about a year; it usually lives in my office drawer, but I rolled it out for the ride home because the conditions were so awful...

My chickens refuse to come out in the snow.
I have to put food and water through the door to their shed
