At first glance, it's a bit tame by Audax standards - each rider did 160km a day for 8 days, riding in shifts, and they seem to have serious endurance backgrounds. However, at least 2 of the riders went through tough times in the years leading upto this. I liked this:

Quote
Radiotherapy followed through June and July. I scheduled my appointments for midday and cycled the daily, 56 mile, very scenic, round trip to Southampton hospital, ignoring the warnings from the doctors that I would get too tired and sore. I couldn’t see how it could affect my legs. I am convinced that my sport and fitness kept the disease from spreading, and gave me a focus and sanity during my treatment.
 for cycling !

The 160km a day isn't too mad, but they had to do it really fast!
