Title: You look as though you've been chewing a wasp
Post by: Wowbagger on 25 September, 2008, 11:32:44 am
It's garden spider time. Our garden has several of these beautiful creatures, the boldest of which has strung its web between a large rosemary bush and the washing line. It was indeed sucking the juices out of a wasp it had caught.

We are down to two-thirds of our normal washing line space for the moment.

I thought caught wasps were cut loose from the web, as they're too dangerous to mess with.  That spider must be a hard bastard.  :D

What do you expect? It's not just from Essex, it's from Saarfend!

I got bitten by a false black widow last Autumn whilst cutting hedges.
3 days of fever like aches and almost unable to ride my machine.
The bitten arm arm swelled up tremendously.
Here is link to one chewing a wasp...

I think that one is lunching on a hoverfly.

Talking of things eating wasps. I spent an enjoyable time a while ago watching water boatmen in our garden pond. If any unsuspecting flying thing (including wasps) accidentally alighted on the water within striking distance of one of these things, they would drag it underneath and drown it. Then eat it. Yum.
