Out of interest, what was your issue with the Rohloff?
The friction and the dead feeling it gave the bike. I suspect the two are related.
Be interesting to get your comparison once you've done some miles on the new set up, not many have the chance to try such a direct comparison.
I sometimes consider mine feels lifeless, particularly after riding my one remaining derailleur bike, but the figures show there's little if any performance difference. I also converted my Airnimal folder from triple to Rohloff, oddly that actually feels livelier.

The bike was on derailleurs before I converted it. Different wheels (obv.) but I put the original tyres on them and everything else was the same so as much a direct comparison as I can imagine. I'll report back when the conversion is done. Bike is a Ti Enigma. It'll never be as good as my (beloved) Dirty Disco but I'm looking forward to riding it again.

I soooo wanted to love the Rohloff. At best I respected it although there were a few rides when it was the best thing to have been on. Perhaps 200 miles out of the 10,000 miles that I did on it. That doesn't work for me.

I did about the same on a rohloff.  I had the same opinion and gave up on it (on my solo).  For me it wasn't solving any real problem, as I tend to keep the bike pretty clean / adjusted anyway.

I still have my thorn raven tandem which has a rohloff, but sadly its very under-used these days. My next major bike purchase could be an ebike for my wife which would pretty much see the tandem as redundant.

I did something reckless and bought a Planet X ex-supplier sample bike for £200. I'm pretty sure it's the prototype On One Pompino that will be supposedly in production within a few weeks. As of the Saturday delivery van coming, I'll own a bit of Planet X history. For the moment I'm reckoning on using it as the commute and town bike, but wouldn't rule out doing flat audaxes on it.

Edelux II to replace an original Edelux
Lesson learned - if you have multiple dynamo lights you can't just upgrade one.

They arrived. So pretty. But alas, my feet are too wide, so they will have to go back. :'( I am gutted.

Half a dozen Swann-Morton retractable scalpel handles.
I keep one in each of my courier bags.
Trouble is, I keep buying more courier bags - I think I'm up to 7 now.
Ordered from Rapid Electronics yesterday at 15:08.
Delivered today at ~ 13:45.
Would consider using them again.

I seem to have accidentally done an N+1 a while back.
The custom Shand build is now ready for collection.
S+S couplings on acount of the travel schedule I have for it.
Lamborghini Orange, the closest to an actual Lambo I'm going to get.

Today I bought gear and brake cables for the new frameset that arrived yesterday, a Spa Aubisque, which I've purchased to replace my Croix de Fer frameset.

The Aubisque is a very lovely shade of blue, the cables are cabley.

I will post a photo when I've finished building...

Got a set of halo aerorage wheels off of Evans for £130. Hoping these fit the bill for the A to B.

Does that mean there will be a CdF frameset in Classifieds, soon...?

If so, what size and how much?

Very nice. I hope it gives you many happy miles. I like the way that Shand post pics of each bike they produce. Here's mine from 2016:

That's left as an exercise for the reader!

The most obvious way is to remove the handlebars and front caliper, so they stay with the rear half.

Natwest has admitted selling me ppi insurance (unbeknown to me) in 1994 & 1995. Therefore,
in lieu of the money coming in I bought another one of these lights.

Very nice.
I did consider the rohloff / belt drive, but decided to go with the normal gearing.

The frame builder is one of the Audax Ecosse regulars. Having the frame built by someone you know is a nice touch! I did enjoy the tour around the workshop.

There are actually two bikes: mine, and Mrs. F.
I'll post a pic of them together later.

Mrs F arrived home with a shiny new Oi! bell for her new Shand.

It really has the most lovely clear and sustained note!

Not today but just week I ordered some new cycling glasses, my current ones are several prescriptions out of date and held together with glue!

They technically arrived Saturday but they were recorded delivery so have gone to the post office. Planning to pick them up tomorrow.

I've gone for photochromic this time rather than changeable lenses. We'll see how I get on. Worried they won't be fast enough going from sun into tree tunnels but then the current ones I always leave the clear lenses on and have to wait for my eyes to adjust anyway.

Just pulled the trigger on one of these

https://uk.wahoofitness.com/devices/bike-computers/gps-elemnt-bolt-reconditioned

It seems that my Garmin is missing - it was either stolen while I wasn't looking on the train, or it's lost. If it turns up then I'll sell it (it was second hand so I'll probably just look for £70 for it). Was eyeing up a move on from Garmin as I can't stand their 'systems' so hopefully this will be a better go.

annoyingly the mount is different so I've also got an adapter that lets you use wahoo computers on Garmin mounts.
