It's a great route, one of my favourites. Start is from the Chepstow Castle car park, there are toilets there and they are usually (but not always) open by the depart time. First control is at Ross on Wye, it's been a cafe in the past but it's not been consistent due to closures and changing hands but there's plenty of places to get a receipt (we used the Wetherspoons last year). Next control is at the half way point at Croft Castle and uses the National Trust cafe. Third control is the pub in Grosmont and it's usually only drinks and crisps/nuts available here (I've stopped at the store in Weobley before now and put some food in my saddlebag to consume at Grosmont). Final section is the toughest culminating in the climb up Star Hill before the fast descent from Devauden into Chepstow.
